Players Report that Recoil Feels Much Better

On May 22, 2025, Valve released a new update that fixes major recoil issues.

Recoil now affects the viewangle on a frame-by-frame basis. This gives smoother and more accurate weapon movement when shooting.

Players report that spraying feels more consistent and more familiar to how it behaved in CS:GO.

Reddit User Pinpoints the Root Cause

A few days ago,  Reddit user Powerful_Seesaw_8927 published a detailed analysis based on extensive research to explain why recoil in CS2 felt inconsistent. Using frame-by-frame testing and in-game commands, he demonstrated that recoil was only updating once per server tick, while viewpunch updated every frame. This mismatch created a jittery, uneven spray pattern.

Community Reaction: “This Is the Patch We’ve Been Waiting For”

The CS2 community has responded with clear enthusiasm. For the first time in months, players across all skill levels seem to agree that recoil now feels noticeably better. The shooting experience is being described as smoother, more predictable, and much closer to how it functioned in CS:GO.

The change has been especially well received because it directly addresses an issue that many had struggled to put into words but clearly felt during gameplay. Spray control, which previously felt jittery or unreliable, now reacts more consistently to input. This allows players to rely more on their muscle memory again.

A big thank you goes to Reddit user Powerful_Seesaw_8927, whose thorough analysis played a key role in identifying the recoil issue and helping push the fix forward.
