Heroic has officially confirmed that Spanish AWPer Álvaro “SunPayus” García and Finnish coach Eetu “sAw” Saha will transfer to G2 Esports after the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
The move signals significant changes for both organizations as they reshape their rosters for the second half of the season.
Changes and New Beginnings for Both Teams
Heroic has been through a turbulent period marked by major player departures, yet the organization consistently found ways to stay competitive. Both SunPayus and sAw have played central roles in Heroic’s recent success, with sAw widely credited for his impact on talent scouting and player development.
On the other side, G2 has also been in flux after the exits of long-time stars NiKo and m0NESY, leaving the team in need of stability and leadership.
Community Reactions
The transfer has started a lot of discussion in the CS2 community, especially on Reddit. Many fans see it as a tough moment for Heroic, but also as something that happens in top-level Counter-Strike when teams are successful.
There’s a lot of focus on what sAw has meant to Heroic. Several fans point out that while finding a new AWPer to replace SunPayus might be possible, it will be much harder to fill the gap left by sAw as coach. People clearly see him as a key figure in Heroic’s recent progress and talent development.
On the G2 side, fans seem cautiously optimistic. Some believe bringing in sAw as coach could help attract young, promising players and bring new structure to the team. There’s hope that with these changes, G2 can finally start moving in the right direction again.
Even though there are different opinions about the transfers, most people agree that both Heroic and G2 are making real efforts to build great teams for the future.
