New Competitive Matchmaking Rank System

The Competitive Matchmaking system just got a lot more player-friendly. Now, you’ll see your per-map rank after just two wins, instead of ten. This means you can quickly assess your skill level on each map. The reduced requirement makes it easier to achieve ranks, adding a dynamic and accessible element to your competitive experience.

New settings for Improved Performance

Valve has improved display performance settings to give a smoother and more responsive gameplay. A Popup will now suggest setting your refresh rate to maximum and enabling NVIDIA G-Sync if supported. For optimal performance, enable G-Sync, V-Sync, and NVIDIA Reflex together.

The new “Frame Pacing” section in Advanced Video settings shows G-Sync status and includes sliders for maximum FPS in-game and in menus, with the default menu FPS increased from 120 to 200. The Advanced Video preview now uses the in-game maximum FPS.

Small Map Fixes

In addition to new update changes, several existing maps have received crucial fixes: Nuke, Ancient, and Vertigo have had C4 stuck spots fixed, with Ancient also addressing holes in the world and non-solids, and Vertigo fixing clipping issues. Anubis has improved grenade collision and clipping.
