New CS2 Custom Aim Training Map
We are starting to see the first aim training maps in CS2. It’s very interesting to see how these maps will develop as we get closer to an official release. This custom aim training map was made by a YouTuber called azy_cs. He calls it an alternative to the popular Aim Botz – Training Map known from CS:GO.
Let’s explore the great things about this map has to offer and what issues that needs to be change for it to become a better training map.
Map settings
Weapons
You can choose any weapon you want to practice with, whether it’s a rifle, pistol, or sniper.
Client commands
You can adjust various client commands. For example, you can enable “headshot only” if you want to make your practice more challenging. I recommend enabling “infinite ammo” unless you want to practice spray control within a specific bullet range.
Bot armor
You can toggle the bots’ armor on or off. For most weapon practice, I suggest turning off the head armor but leaving the body armor on.
Bot movement
By default, the bots stand still, but you can adjust their movement in four different ways. The first appears as random movements. The rest make the bots strafe from side to side at varying speeds, from walking to running.
Range control
You can control the bots’ range, choosing between close, mid, and long range. By default, all ranges are included.
Issues
Now let’s take a look at what the map needs to change for it to become an effective practice tool.
One issue is that the bots tend to spawn too close to each other, causing them to cluster together. This disrupts the flow of shooting making it hard to maintain a consistent pace.
Another issue is that when long range is activated, bots tend to spawn too far away. After eliminating the close-range bots, they begin to line up at the back of the field. This is not ideal unless you’re specifically aiming to practice long-range shooting.
When that being said, the map is running really smooth and it has a solid foundation for becoming a great aim training map.
How to play this CS2 aim training map
To play this custom aim training map, follow these simple steps:
- Download the map file HERE.
- Unzip the VPK file and place it in the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\core\maps - Start the game
- Open the console and type “map cs2 aim”.
